Hi Bill,

IDS/9000 is a HP software ($$$) which is basically a host based intrusion detection system.

http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo.pl?productNumber=J5083AA

I haven't used it personally so i can't really tell if it is good or not. But i do see lots of patches for it. :(

As far as the other errors are concerned, found this in the TKB

http://us-support2.external.hp.com/cki/bin/doc.pl/sid=38df736e1ad71309cc/screen=ckiDisplayDocument?docId=200000050748250

http://us-support2.external.hp.com/cki/bin/doc.pl/sid=38df736e1ad71309cc/screen=ckiDisplayDocument?docId=200000056323290

-Regards
Ramesh

Hi all,

Just to clear up a few misunderstandings:

1. IDS/9000 is a free download from http://software.hp.com. No charge, zero cost, free, zippo. :-)

2. Patches are required for only 11.0 systems that are behind on current patches. The patches introduce a new kernel data source for intrusion detection. No patches are required on 11i as the data source is built in by default. The patches are not for the product itself. If you have recently applied a patch bundle then you already have all the patches and can download and install the product with no problem.

Regards,
Mark.
--
Mark Crosbie IDS/9000 Product Architect
http://www.hp.com/security/products/ids
