console question

Hello, Can someone pleas ehelp me out here. I have a L class machine and whenever I take my machine down to single user mode, it locks up my console. Can someone tell me what could be wrong here please??. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Do CTL + B to go to GSP mode
and then type co , see weather it responces

I had already tried that once before. Once I go to single user mode, my console locks up so I can't do anything.

If a regular console ***green screen***

Try doing a console reset. I can't remember if d or d but do this:

Turn monitor off
hold d down
Turn monitor on
Hold for about 10 sec
Then let go
Should come back with setting monitor config defaults

If that does not work, try it with d

Try to add the following line in the $HOME/.profile of user 'root'.
Just after the PATH variable has been set add the line:
stty cread
This will always force the CREAD flag to be set.
