    <description>check permissions using CDE diagnostic tool dr_dt&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/tmp springs to mind as does /var/spool/scokets.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If that fails to unearth the problem try removing entries under /var/spool/scokets/X11 &amp;amp; /var/spool/sockets/####.&lt;HOSTNAME&gt; entries ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;check another window manager eg VUE is not running ? check another process is not using the Xserver port,  177 I think.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Reboot ?&lt;/HOSTNAME&gt;</description>

      <description>I am having problems starting X on one of our HPUX systems.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This is a copy of the file &lt;BR /&gt;:  /var/dt/Xerrors &lt;BR /&gt;  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Mon Oct  1 10:59:51 2001 &lt;BR /&gt;error (pid 3772): error binding socket address 177, errno = 2 &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Fatal server error: &lt;BR /&gt;Failed to establish all listening sockets &lt;BR /&gt;^[g &lt;BR /&gt;Mon Oct  1 10:59:51 2001 &lt;BR /&gt;error (pid 3772): Server unexpectedly died &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Mon Oct  1 10:59:56 2001 &lt;BR /&gt;error (pid 3772): Server for display lancer:0 can't be started. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Fatal server error: &lt;BR /&gt;Failed to establish all listening sockets &lt;BR /&gt;^[g &lt;BR /&gt;Mon Oct  1 11:02:32 2001 &lt;BR /&gt;error (pid 1611): Server unexpectedly died &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Mon Oct  1 11:02:37 2001 &lt;BR /&gt;error (pid 1611): Server for display lancer:0 can't be started. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;  &lt;BR /&gt;Can somebody help me here.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Sumedha</description>

      <description>Hello,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;check wether some other process has opened this port&lt;BR /&gt;(177), e.g. using "netstat -an|grep "177 " or "lsof".&lt;BR /&gt;Then kill this process...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HTH,&lt;BR /&gt;Wodisch</description>
