Hi Claudio:

You need to get SAM patch PHCO_23876 from the ITRC patch database and install it. This will fix the DLT8000 error SAM is reporting. A reboot is *not* required to install this patch.

The 'fbackup' return code = 4 will be returned for any tape that was not *last* used by 'fbackup'. This is the message: "WARNING: unable to read a volume header".

Regards!

...JRF...
Hi Claudio:

Well, from 'fbackup's advisory, the tape had not last been used by 'fbackup'. That is, either it was a new tape or one that had been used by something other than 'fbackup'.

This warning, in and of inself, is sufficient to yield a return code = 4. Other reasons for the return code are files whose modification timestamp change from the point 'fbackup' starts their copy until it finishes them. In this case the file is (re)copied 'maxretries' times [default = 5] with a warning message generated each time.

Regards!

...JRF...

Hi James,
If I did understand, making another fbackup procedure this error could not occur...(right me if I wrong, please). well, I'm using SAM and in the next try, I get the msg attached.

The server is a A500(HPUX-11.00) and the tape is a DLT-8000.

Thanx.
