Sendmail failure

Upon trying to use sendmail or mailx, I get the following message:

HOST(root)/> sendmail -bs
554 /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 1625: R line: null LHS
554 /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 1630: replacement $2 out of bounds
451 Warning: .cf version level (7) exceeds program functionality (6): No such file or directory
HOST(root)/>

The error tells you the issue... cf version level (7) exceeds program functionality (6)

You are trying to run .cf version 7 and running sendmail version 6.
