      <description>hi,&lt;BR /&gt;I am not ablle to kill  a process using kill -9 pid .This is not a kernel process ..its  user initiated process.Can anybody help me and tell me any other way to kill this process.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;thnks</description>

      <description>&lt;BR /&gt;user processes make system calls and enter in kernel mode.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if this calll hangs you won't be able to kill -9.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;you might even have to reboot your box to get it free,&lt;BR /&gt;but you should find out what the precess is supposed to do and why it might hang&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;good luck&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;some of the user processes use the IPC's to make system call(s) to kernel, if such processes hangs kill can't kill such processes, rebooting the m/c is only the solution</description>

      <description>Hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If this process is a zambie process, you are not able to kill it ( this kind of users process are coming from bad programming ).&lt;BR /&gt;Zambies process appears when a forked ( child ) process executes an EXIT instruction but his Parent process do not wait for him during his time life ( wait instruction ) even . Then , the forked process becomes a ZOBIE .&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Magdi</description>
