I run sam off of my HP and to a X11 on a PC. It works fine.
I'm assuming you have X11 up and running OK.
From an Xterm type in "sam &" and it launches just like any other app.

If you don't have an X11 window manager or have some problems with X you
will need to debug these first.

set the DISPLAY variable to the system where you want to have the SAM GUI and start sam... this is it.

If you want to run it on a PC you need a X-Server like reflectionX

Also make sure that X11 can connect to the host.
xhost +
Disable access control for all hosts. You can also be more specific as to which X11 client can connect.
