    <description>I remember having the "Service unavailable" error some while ago.  If I remember correctly, it was caused by the relay server (which was Lotus Notes) not being configured to allow my UNIX host to use it as a relay.  This is generally configured to close open relays to refuse spam.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I would check (or have your mail admins check) that the relay host 10.20.2.31 is configured to allow 192.168.9.120 to use it as a relay.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The fact you can't ping it is most likely to be a firewall rule, and I don't think has any bearing on the email issue.</description>

      <description>I'm implementing the sms to email.  The below is what I found in mail.log What does the service availble mean?       <description>Ensure that you can resolve the relay.operator.co.tt and your own hostname.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Are you using DNS?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;try to telnet to port 25 on the relay server and send from command line.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Berlene</description>

      <description>Can you do telnet to 25 port as,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;telnet localhost 25&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and network status as,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;netstat -na | grep -w 25&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;one as LISTEN status there.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;To lookup about the hostname resolvation you have to use nslookup / nsquery command.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;nslookup smsabc.co.tt &lt;BR /&gt;nslookup  relay.operator.co.tt&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you want to make it with files entry then,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;---/etc/nsswitch.conf file---&lt;BR /&gt;hosts: files dns&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-- /etc/hosts file --&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;IP-ADDRESS&gt; &lt;FQDN-SMSABC&gt; smsabc&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;IP-ADDRESS&gt; &lt;FQDN-RELAY&gt; relay&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now check lookup as,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;nsquery hosts &lt;HOSTNAME&gt; "files"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You have to be succeeded.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Muthu&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/HOSTNAME&gt;&lt;/FQDN-RELAY&gt;&lt;/IP-ADDRESS&gt;&lt;/FQDN-SMSABC&gt;&lt;/IP-ADDRESS&gt;</description>
