Hi
We have a system with 1 root disk and 2 oracle disks.
We have restored the system from ignite and the oracle disks from vxdumps. But now when I want to start the databases I get the error
ORA-01113: file 1 needs media recovery
ORA-01110: data file 1: '/oraswr/databasedbmp1/db1/system01.dbf'
Is there any order in which the vxdumps and make_recovery needs to be done.

Thanks in advance
Praveen
You did it the right way.
You will need a recovery for the specified datafile. For this to work you have te have access to your (archived)-redo log files. If you have just connect internal to svrmgrl and type recover database.
Wietze.

The files mentioned there are your archived redolog files. If you don't have them you'll have to restore them to the locatiuon mentioned in the path.

It sounds like Oracle had the datafiles open during the backup. Oracle refuses to recover from a backup which was made while Oracle was running.
Either you need to shut the database down for the duration of the backup (cold backup - easy backup/recovery and most reliable method). Or you need to implement a hot backup method (which would create consistent copies of the Oracle datafiles, which you would backup and use for recovery). Hot backups are not simple, you need Oracle expertise.
