Have you checked on your 11.0 system in the /usr/share/doc directory? There should be a file there called file_sys.txt (text version) and file_sys.ps (PostScript version).

I believe it will be called file_sys.ps, file_sys.txt and will be in the /usr/share/doc subdirectory of your 11.0 machine.

Thank you for such a speedy response.
I had already looked in this area and found the document mentioned but this is for
HP-UX 10.0.
I had been told that in HP-UX 11.0 some of the file systems and their uses had changed. Hence the reason for looking for another White Paper. If this is not the case then I will use this document.

Thanks in advance for further comments.

Not a whole lot changed between 10 and 11 as far as the file system uses go. Have a look at this document:

http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000070269045

It talks about the 11i equivalents of some of the popular Technical Paper from the /usr/share/doc directory. The File System Layout document apparently hasn't changed recently.

I think that would still be a good starting point for you.

Unfortunately, the /usr/share/doc white papers have not been updated for a long time. Most of the information is still valid with the exception of process and memory management for 64 bits (the papers are valid for 32 bits but are not completely up to date). At 11i, the /usr/share/doc papers were all removed and so far, there have been no replacements.
