move root to raid array

Want to move the root volume to autoraid 12H.
How can this be done with ignite tape and can
it be done while users are still on system
or must it be done in single user mode.

Also is this a good or bad idea to move root
onto a raid array. Will performance suffer by
doing this??

Hi James,

The other links provide excellent information. But wanted to point out some of the things from my experience.

When you use an Autoraid, there is a max limitation of 8 LUNs (logical disks) that you can configure on an autoraid. I am not sure what other applications are you planning to run on this, so you will have to be careful in your filesystem layout.

Also make sure your firmware revision on your autoraid is uptodate.

As far as which approach is to be used for migrating your data, there are lots of threads on that issue in these forums. But definitely the mirroring option has the least downtime provided you figure out what has to be done.
