Bill,

I suspect they'll reflect the default desktop colour scheme ...so I'd go into stylemanager and either select a scheme that suits or create your own colour palette and save it.

I've been playing with GNOME under HP-UX and had to find some decent colors for the old Motif apps which don't pay attention to the GTK+ themes. I created ~/.Xdefaults with the values listed below. Ref/X should have a configuration option to specify a file in which you can place these settings. If Ref/X doesn't support the "cpp" macro definitions (#define), you will have to copy the color values to each line, etc. These settings seem to do a pretty good job at simulating the behavior of the CDE/VUE color palette feature. Feel free to find a color combination that works good for you.

-chuck

#define WHITE   #FFFFFF

#define BLACK   #000000

#define TEAL    #57777f

#define OLIVE   #8E8E74

#define NAVY    #2b3856

#define FG      WHITE

#define BG      OLIVE

#define TEXT    NAVY

#define DIALOG  TEAL

#define MENU    TEAL

*foreground:                                    FG

*background:                                    BG

*XmText.background:                             TEXT

*XmTextField.background:                        TEXT

*XmList.background:                             TEXT

*XmRowColumn*background:                        MENU

*XmDialogShell*background:                      DIALOG

*XmDialogShell*XmText.background:               TEXT

*XmDialogShell*XmTextField.background:          TEXT

*XmDialogShell*XmList.background:               TEXT

*XmMenuShell*background:                        MENU

*XmBulletinBoard*background:                    DIALOG

*XmBulletinBoard*XmText.background:             TEXT

*XmBulletinBoard*XmTextField.background:        TEXT

*XmBulletinBoard*XmList.background:             TEXT
