What is the option to change the filesystem so,
that it can handle files larger than 2 gb.
Is ist possible on hfs ???

Yes, you may have files larger the 2gb by using the largefiles option. check your man pages for hfs: man mkfs_hfs.

Here's how it could be done, you will have to unount the filesystem first. Then use fsadm to enable largefiles.

# fsadm -F hfs -o largefiles /dev/vg_name/rlv_name

Next make a change to the /etc/fstab file to include largefiles option.

Hi Ruff:

You can enable 'largefiles' for HFS or for VxFS filesystems. Remember that the old utilities like 'tar' and 'cpio' do *not* support copying files larger than 2GB.

To convert an HFS filesystem, first unmount it and then do:

# fsadm -F hfs -o largefiles /dev/vgXX/rlvolX

Note carefully the use of the (r)aw volume.

umount the file system and as root user use fsadm command. user rlvol?

# fsadm -F hfs -o largefiles /dev/vg_name/rlv_name
