      <description>It depends entirely on where the product comes from. If it is an associated product of HP, then /opt &lt;BR /&gt;If not then /vendor (whatever vendor name) e.g. /oracle for oracle /informix for informix.&lt;BR /&gt;Other installations use /usr/contrib/bin or /usr/local/bin&lt;BR /&gt;Generally these are used for localised scripts.&lt;BR /&gt;It is irrelevant regarding 32 or 64 bit.</description>

      <description>/opt/&lt;APPLICATION name=""&gt; is the general standard these days for binaries&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;With config files in /etc/opt/&lt;APPLICATION name=""&gt; and logging in /var/opt/&lt;APPLICATION name=""&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For example - CIFS (Samba)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/opt/samba&lt;BR /&gt;/etc/opt/samba&lt;BR /&gt;/var/opt/samba&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Used to be /usr/local&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Rgds...Geoff&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/APPLICATION&gt;&lt;/APPLICATION&gt;&lt;/APPLICATION&gt;</description>
