Hi,

I am searching for a spool management software that enable me to preview 'lp' output in HP-UX. Currently, we have a lot of daily/monthly reports sent to printer, but users want to preview the reports and selectively print some of them. I can't find any s/w from HP. Any third party s/w avaiable. Please share your experience.

Hi,
if you know the id of the print jobs then you can selectively print by cancelling the id of unwanted reports.

To do this, you'll have to look away from HP-although they do sell the DAZEL product-too much $$ for what you're seeking. Plus Technologies offers a spooler package http://www.plustechnologies.com. It's not as $$ as some of them, but seems to be a good replacement for HP's OpenSpool product.

Also check out the UNISPOOL product. It is a very good product and you can preview jobs. It has a windows interface and allows you to preview PCL and Postscripts jobs if you have to right viewers.
