HP-UX 11i on L2000 with 32 bit support

Hello,

I need to install HP-UX 11i in a L2000 machine, but I have an application that runs on HP 10.20 only. I'd like to know if I do cold-install in the L2000, I will have the 32-bit version option in 11i so I can run the application

L2000 have hardware 64-bit only 11.xx with 64-bit you can install.

Hi Andrea

L2000 with 11i , you can only install 64 Bits OS , but all the applications for 32 BIT will also work fine. Ans also you have more to play on a 64 BIT OS ( why settle for 32 )

thanks very much for the help. I will install 11i version in the L2000 and after that I'll try to install and test the 10.20 application. In case it doesn't work I'll need to use another HW (eg. K-class).

Hi Andrea,

You can install hp-ux 11i on your L2000 ( architecture for L class server is 64-bits ).

Your 32-bits application will gonna run on 64 bits architecture. This is confirmed by HP, unless your are using some programming technics which depends on the 32-bits architecture ( ie, in c programming : sizeof(int) for example. I really hope not, because it's bad programming tips ).

I did this excercice and it works really fine.

I'm in holidays next 2 weeks, after i'm ready for any question.
