Hi
You cannot use a DDS3 cartridge in a DDS2 Drive, DDS 2 Supports only DDS2 and DDS Cartridges. DDS2 Drive won't allow you to load a DDS3 cartridge. It will eject the media.

-Rajesh

No,

DDS2 drives can hold DDS2 or DDS1 tapes ONLY.

HTH,
Vince

You will find that some tapes are not supported and some are. For your drive you cannot use a tape that is designed for a later model tape drive.

Drive Tape
DCL-Z 60M
DDS 90M
DDS2 120M
DDS3 125M
DDS4 150M

Now, each drive will support at least two tape versions behind. e.g. A 90M, 120 and 125 M tape will work in a DDS3 drive.
