Hi, My name is Nilton, I would like to know what to do to install a network printer in HP-UX 11i. The printer is a Ricoh Aficio with a NIC with an IP address ... Thanks in advance.

Actually, HP's DPS is not well suited for a simple non-HP JetDirect printer. Non-HP printers are simple rlp emulators so you would add the printer use the sam program as a "remote printer". HOWEVER, you must consult the printer's technical reference manual (or the manufacturer) to find the printer's internal name. It might be prn or text or raw or something similar. The sam program will ask you to pick a local printer name, provide the remote printer's IP or network hostname, and the printer's internal name.

sam & configure a remote printer should do the trick though u may not get the graphics etc

Nilton,

As above with sam you can.
just fill in Printername: .......
Remote systemname: .... (or IP)
Remote printername: ...... (Lower or capital!)

and dont forget to click the button Remote printer is on BSD system

It works on our Hitachi DDS 50/60 printers

Did you download the Unix driver from Ricoh?
