fbackup error

I use 'fbcakup' on my HPUX 10.20 , it pop up the following error. Can suggest how to solve? Thx.

write error on an FSM in the ANSII label
write error at the beginning of the volume

Hi,

What's draiver tape are you using ?
Does "tar" run ? If not change your drive.

Hi

I would try with another tape before changing the drive.

Have you cleaned the drive ? check the cleaning light isn't flashing.

Can you read from a tape that has a previous fbackup ?

frecover -V `tty`

This will get the header information from the tape. If fbackup doesn't see a valid header when trying to backup it will attempt to write one.

And as suggested try and tar some data to the tape

tar -cvf test.out /tmp/
