Hello
I do not have such a directory called "orainst".
let me tell you what I did.
I created users "oracle" with oinstall group and another user "nitin" with dba group.
then I have gunzipped and tar -xvf the oracleHpUx-8.1.6.tar.gz logging in as "oracle".
And i also set the class path for ORACLE_BASE and ORACLE_HOME. then then I ran the two scripts "./mkdb.sh" and "lsncon.sh" and I tried to start svrmgrl to run @mkdb it gives me this error "Execute permission denied".

I completed running ./mkdb.sh and ./lsnrconf.sh but when I try to start svrmgrl it says "Execute permission denied" why is that I am logged in as oracle with oinstall group. Is there something else I need to set the file svrmgrl has 777 permissions.I will appreciate a reply. i am a newbee in Hp Ux and have worked as DBA for Oracle on NT platform
