1.What is the difference between the slave dns serverwithout datafile and the cache server
2.how to create a new software depot
is it swcopy -s /dev/rmt/0m @ /var/adm/xxx
3.what are the type of allocation available in lvm.
4.why hpux (ssl) is required in between isl and the vmunix
5.where can i get a good document for MC/SG and the hawk&perl scripting

2 You just about have that right. I would not copy to /var/adm i'd build it somewhere in /tmp until I knew i had it right. The source is rarely tape any more these days /dev/rmt/0m ..
3 You can stripe with mirror/ux you can mirror

4.isl-initial system loader
hpux-secondry bootloader
isl loads hpux which further looks for kernel vmunix in a boot area of bootable disk

swreg command should be like this...

#swreg -l depot

1. Not sure but Slave server will act as backup server whereas cache server won't instead it will only help the primary server if it is up and running.

Hi,
A Slave DNS server is a kind of backup
to your primary server, If the Primary DNS
server fails then Slave Server start
serving the client.

While a cache DNS server works where you
dont have your OWN DNS server but to have
a good resolving of internet sites on your
LAN you will be configuring a machine as a
CACHING ONLY DNS server, so when it
recieves a request it resolves the DNS
entry either from its own cache or if it
does'nt finds the entry in its own
database then its contacts the
neighbouring DNS server to resolve and
then it caches it.

This is my understanding of the documents
I have read.

Anybody can correct me if I am wrong.
