Hi,

If this is a 11i system, then make sure DCE products for 11.0 are installed on it.

swlist -l product |grep -i dce

Shouldn't list anything that says 11.00 in the version.

If so, you will need to install 11i version of them from your OS CDs. After re-installing it is a good idea to reboot the system as there are few processes that would need to be restarted.

If the DCE versions are good, then look for patches in itrc.hp.com.

In either the case, ensure you have a good make_tape_recovery tape or ignite image.

-Sri

Did you install DCE KT Tools along with OVO agent?. If so, I believe you might have installed 11.0 version of KT tools. Your swlist will confirm it.

samd is used to configure services such as Distributed Print Service on the remote systems. 'swci' is part of DMI - Desktop Management interface that I have not seen many people using it. If you are ok with not having them, you can disable them. samd is run through inittab. So, you will need to comment it out and run 'init q' to get rid of it. swci can be terminated using /sbin/init.d/Dmisp stop command. Edit /etc/rc.config.d/Dmiconfig to permanently disable it.

-Sri

You will also find DCE-KT-Tools there as I don't remember if there is any such for 11i. But I believe you don't need KT-Tools for OVO agent for atleast 6.1 version.

-Sri

It doesn't. However, I suggest you to install the latest DCE patch also after reinstalling DCE-Coretools. It is a good idea to reboot. Last time, you didn't see the problem until you rebooted the system is due to the same reason. 'swci' and 'samd' were using the old DCE libraries until you rebooted the system. After reboot, they started using the new (actually old 11.0) libraries and hence you started seeing the issue.

Meanwhile, disable these two processes. When you get a chance, do the work the reboot the system. But make sure you have good make_tape_recovery tape in case if you run into issues.

-Sri
