Try (logged in as root) the sometimes called RockRidge format:

First check and see if /etc/pfs_fstab looks like this:
/dev/dsk/c_t_d_ /cdrom pfs-rrip xlat=unix 0

#nohup /usr/sbin/pfs_mountd &
#nohup /usr/sbin/pfsd &
#/usr/sbin/pfs_mount /cdrom

...on some older systems (like T500) the last line would look like:

#/usr/sbin/pfs_mount /dev/dsk/c_t_d_ /SD_CDROM

TO UMOUNT THE CD

#/usr/sbin/pfs_umount /cdrom

/rcw
Hi-

I don't know if this will help, but I use a combination of two of the ones you have tried:

mount -F cdfs -o ro,cdcase /dev/dsk/c#t#d# /cdrom

Also, one time I mounted the drive just using mount /dev/dsk/c#t#d# /cdrom and all of the file names on the disk had a ~1 appended to the end of the name. When I mounted the drive the way I normally do, the ~1 disappeared, so you may be seeing the . or ! because it is not being mounted correctly.

Mark

As you could mount this CD in LINUX why don't you just mount it there and export this directory. So you should be able to read this CD over the network on you HP-UX box.

Or you can rcp / ftp the necessaryfiles to the HP-UX box.

Linux does support an awful lot of different filesystems, much more than HP-UX does. If this is a one time problem i would not spend to much time on solving. Even if this is an interesting problem i would just copy the files using a Linux box and forget about it.

Regards Stefan

You can just try to use SAM (System Administration Manager) to mount the cdrom. I did it and it works.

Perhaps you can use your Linuxbox to copy the necessary files to a new CD?

For problems like this i have a small notebook running Linux which can be easily carried everywhere.

Or with some handwork to do, you cold copy the necessary files and directories to the local filesystem and rename all files. Depends on how much files you have to edit if this is practicable.

BTW: How about assigning some points?
