    <description>Dear all,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When I type "who", I got the following results:&lt;BR /&gt;uxadm      pts/ta       Oct 16 10:59&lt;BR /&gt;opr        pts/tc       Oct  5 17:41&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When I type "ps -t pts/tc", I got the following:&lt;BR /&gt;$ ps -t pts/tc&lt;BR /&gt;   PID TTY       TIME COMMAND&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Is there any way to kill this dead login in this machine beside rebooting the server?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks very much.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>I think it has to do with your wtmp or btmp file.</description>

      <description>Hi Kenny:&lt;BR /&gt;I think uxadm is a system user.&lt;BR /&gt;You must use root to display its UID.&lt;BR /&gt;#ps -t pts/tc&lt;BR /&gt;Not "$ps -t pts/tc".&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Have a look at the following document, it should fix your problem.       <description>Thanks Michael,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This document helps me to delete the dead login. However, the step 4 had hanged for a long time and I had broken this process and amend the command "fwtmp -ic /tmp/utmp.binary" and skip step 5.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Anyway, thanks for your help and information.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
