    <description>This can get nasty.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You need to tell us what your keyboard is attached to.  If it is a PC runnign Reflections or something, you can modify the keyboard in the setting for yout PC client.&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;If you are using X directly, you can use "xmodmap" to modify your keyboard layout and there is a rather helpful "man" page for this (If you can find a copy of xkeycaps for hpux your life will be made a lot easier).&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;Many years ago the pipe symbol was "^".  Some systems still support this as a pipe so you could try it.</description>
