I am sorry I may not have been clear the functionality I was looking for would have the form "lp -dprintername" where printername would actually contain the syntax to: print the chosen file name. Is there a way to setup a printer that does the remsh command? This would allow users to print to the printer. If you have given the anwher in the attached text I may need more explanation as to how to get it working in any arbitrary invironment.

Gerald

Hello

I am trying to print from hp-ux spooler to an AIX 4.3 machine running Xprint V5.2. We are using a printer that must use Xprint in order to print to the printer. The printer is a nipson 6100 that uses a program called openpage for creating forms. Currently I can cat a file to Xprint using a remsh command from a remote server. If there is a way to make the printer a remote printer, or a way to integrate the remsh command into a lp command that would be very useful. Thanks.

Gerald
