Remote fbackup

Hello everyone,
Again I need your help with fbackup. I heard that you can do a remote fbackup by putting this on the command:
fbackup -f machinename:device .....
Does this mean that if i have Mach1 and Mach2 I can just put another fbackup command line (like above) in the same script and that will do backup for Mach2 as well?
OR
The scenario is that if the device file for Mach1 is broken and by using the fbackup command above I can use Mach2's dev. file to do bk-up for Mach1 only. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

Yes you can do that.You are right.But,Only half-inch 9-track magnetic tapes or DDS-format tapes can be remote devices.

Actually DLT's work as well provided you are patched up to date.

Thank you for your responses. I went and did the test on remote fbackup and the result was that it works on both DLT and DDS tape. However, the remote fbackup uses Mach2's tape drive to do backup for Mach1. I was hoping for having one script on Mach1 to do back-up on Mach2; Mach3 and so on. I'd tried this command : fbackup -f Mach2:dev -u0g Mach2:path/graph -I Mach2:path/Index (hoping that fbackup uses "rcp" thinking) but it did not. I must have read the man page for fbackup >5X (no joking) I'm sure I missing something in thoses pages about remote fbackup. If any body have any suggestion I would greatly appreciate it.
