Still experiencing problems with performance on the site, particularly in the afternoons (when the US are online!). Its almost 16:00 here now GMT and when replying to a question I was asked to login again and it took several goes before I successfully managed to do so (kept getting network no response errors).

Any plans to improve the site performance some more?

I think one of the problems is so much data needs to be loaded for each web page. Im talking in the tens of K per screen - especially for the main forum category screens - some can be over 100k per screen, which really makes the site crawl. I think a less graphics intensive site and smaller webpage sizes would really help performance - and us teccies just want fast performance - not pretty (and large) graphics and page sizes.

Just my opinion.

Cheers,

Stefan
Hi Stefan,

thanks for the feedback.

I am really sorry to learn that you experienced login issues.

As per the message I posted recently, we are currently in the process of fixing issues resulting in http404 or SSI errors, mainly due to performance issues. Improvements were already made, but we surely still can improve the situation, thanks to your feedback. In order to better measure and troubleshoot such issues, I need to record all problems encountered when using forums, so that our developers can identify precisely where to put efforts on. For this purpose, I would appreciate if you could report any problems to me with the matching URL and the exact date and time.

Regarding the page size, this is something our developers will have to look into. I would assume that most of the large graphic files would be kept into the cache memory, but I am not a specialist in this area. I will ask the question to our engineers.

thanks again for your valuable feedback

best regards,

Laurent
ITRC Forums admin.
