topic telnet printing in Operating System - HP-UX

dear all , i have got a windows pc and connecting to a hp server.i am running telnet to connect to the server.now the issue is that i need to print my files on the local printer which is connected to my pc.is there anybody who has a script which we do this for me?

Hi

you can define the printer with jetadmin in the unix server if the printer have a ip adress .

also you can ftp the files to your pc if you are connecting with telnet .

but i think that the best way is to define the printer( if the printer has a jetderict card )

Hi,

Try to configure remote printer in HP Server. Put your PC IP address there. It would be get if you update your /etc/hosts file with you PC IP address. Then when it would sent print request then it would sent that request to your PC and your PC would sent that request to local printer which is attached with your PC.

Hi,

You have to define your printer first. You can do it throught JetAdmin, you also can do so through SAM:
sam-->Printers and Plotter-->
set up it as "Remote printer" by selecting either "HP distributed Print Service" or "LP Spooler".

If you decide to remote print to your PC from the HP box, you'd want to make sure the local print queue on the PC is defined properly.

What version of Windows is on your PC? You need to have an LPD server running on your PC to accept the output from your server. If you're running Windows NT or 2000, an LPD server is included (in services, look for Windows Printer Service, if I remember correctly). It's a simple version, though. There are some more robust LPD servers (we use Netmanage's, but there are also others). I don't think Win9x/Me includes an LPD server.

If you have a network card on the printer (which it sounds like you do not), then it should have an LPD server built in and you won't need to mess with having one on your machine.
