can't run mozilla

Hi,

I can't run mozilla if I am not logged in root.
is this normal?
What can I do to launch mozilla when I'm not a superuser?
My OS is HP-UX 11iv1.

Do you get an error message or is the command simply not found because it's not in your path?

No, it's not normal. It is almost certainly permissions on the executables on on the current directory. It would really help to see the error messages or at least the exit status of the command when run as a regular user.

Look the permission, perhaps don't have with others user.

What message does it gives to you if you launch it from an xterm ?

In /opt/mozilla, here permissions are on the following files:
-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin mozilla*
-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin mozilla-bin*
-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin mozilla-config*
-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin mozilla-xremote-client*
-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin run-mozilla.sh*

On the other hand, I've no return error when I launch mozilla (not in root).
I can maybe have any logs but I don't now where I can find them.

How about the permissions of /opt and /opt/mozilla ?

check that the PATH for the users are set properly.Which mozilla executable you are launching.

If exist /usr/lib/mozilla directory (or similar) try change the permission.
Example chmod -R 755

(it's not the best fix as it makes alot of files executable that shouldn't be but will make mozilla work correctly for normal users)

Bad permissions on the .rdf and other files in /opt/mozilla/chrome can also be a problem.

If you have HP's mozilla, try a swverify of Mozilla product.

The problem is solved.
The file /opt/mozilla/chrome/chrome.rdf had wrong permissions.
-rw------- 1 root sys chrome.rdf

I operated a "chmod 644 chrome.rdf" and my problem was solved.
