Many models are not supported by 11i, and yours may be one of them.

What model workstation is it? and did you check the compatability list?

The only time I have seen the install kernel hang is when 1 of 2 conditions exist. One is bad media, 2 is unsupported hardware.

Regards,
Shannon

You might just be impatient. The alloc_pdc_pages step of booting takes a long time on my A500--more than I wish it would. At this stage of booting, the OS is walking the various busses to see what hardware is attached.

I also had one situation (an N) class that hung at this point. Eventually, I disconnected all the cables and external stuff, and rebooted. It came up, so I went through a long series of attaching cables (there were 8 F/C 5158A cards in it) and rebooting. Through this process of elimination I narrowed it down to 1 F/C, through a storage router, and eventually to a hanging DLT tape drive. Rebooting the tape drive let the N class boot normally.

Try disconnecting all the external peripherals (if any).

Chris

This is supported. If u r using SCSI , Do you have Terminators in place ?.

Relocating PDC is never an error !

Regds,

Kaps

It is not clear what model A-box this is. It could be one of the little A180(C), an A400, or an A500. In any event, a likely cause of your problem is that the firmware needs to be upgraded. I would check the Patch Database for the latest firmware for your machine and install it.
