      <description>I get a message on boot up that the server can't qualify its own domain name so it uses it short name.  How do you set this up?</description>

      <description>edit the /etc/mail/sendmail.cf and change the line that reads:-&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#Dj$w.Foo.COM&lt;BR /&gt;to&lt;BR /&gt;Dj$w.domaminname&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;or &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;edit your host file and put a '.' after your hostname&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i.e.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;140.100.100.100 peter.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>check you /etc/nsswitch.conf.  Have it go to files first then dns.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If still have a problem, you could put an alias in the hosts file.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx     hostname     hostname.domain.com</description>
