Hi to all

In the user profile section there is STILL only ONE female character, nine male and one I am not to sure about althought that is not a problem.

One frumpy female character in trousers is simple not enough ;^)

Well girls let?s let HP know we are not too pleased about this.

Paula ? who does not look like her character??

This is a dilemma. HP has to be very careful with what it can offer for you girls due the sexual harassment thing. In current day society it seems acceptable to depict a male as a pinhead, but doing the same with a female is an invitation to a lawsuit. It seems that just about anything is probably going to be found insulting by someone, somewhere. Some have even complained about the stick figures used on restroom entrances. The advertising and entertainment industries can get away with almost anything, but the opposite seems to be true in a general business atmosphere. I guess the only good answer would be to eliminate all legislation. Sorry if this seems political, but that's the world we live in these days. So shoot the messenger.

Tim You u have a point .This is one of the reasons why HP is playing low profile I presume.Probably it would be a good idea to give a list of cartoons to identity oneself asthis will enable HP to offload any responsibility for its use as it is a "Cartoon Charater".However I am not sure if HP has to pay the Disney's for this.

I could not agree more with the request. HOWEVER as Tim has said, there are major problems involved with what could be construed as harrasment and in my opinion is a sad reflection on the world we live in.
Me? There is also no cartoon for a short fat hairy legged man with a beard, so there!

Hi, I think HP has several reasons:

1) Females always want to be pretty,... This
means that there would be a competition for
having the best looking cartoon and slowing
down the traffic.
2) Guys would look more at the cartoons than
at the texts.

Well girls

They guys are putting their points across, which is fair enough, but my problem is not whether the characters are stunning looking, but the disparity.

1 x Female
9 x male
1 x unknown ??

I wonder what is the ratio of guys to girls who post in the forums. What are the demographics? It could be that the ratio of guys to girls who post in the forums is also 9 to 1. *shrug* :)

Today everybody owns a digital camera (hmmmz everbody??, not me, not yet), and add a real picture of yourself (! not Pamela Anderson or Brad Pit ;)

It would be really neat to add your own pic, but they also have to be approved by someone. Imagine what pics could be added.

I for one would also like to add my own icon or have some list of icons to pick from to personalize each message.

This is getting away from the true reason for having this forum, but it does add a bit of spice to it.

I for one would love to get rid of my character all together! I can change it, but I cannot remove it. I chose one that I thought was a girl - maybe not.

I'd have to say that even the guy cartoons aren't really that impressive. Maybe they should ditch the full-body ones and just go to head or head/shoulder shots. This might make it easier to include more girl ones as well, since all you have is a face to do. These would be small enough to put next to the name when posting as well. just my two cents worth.

Hmmm, well Paula about that female icon. Just add some touches of gray and I think HP nailed me pretty well. Except I don't wear turtle neck sweaters.
..
But I must say this. I understand what Tim is saying about the broohaha on sexual harrassment or any kind 'harrassment'. Sometimes people are just too darned sensitive...Seems to me too many folks (men&women) have lost the ability to laugh at themselves. When it is harrassment that's one thing, but most are just 'kidding around'. So I say 'chill out'.
My self...I'd get a kick out of a few silly female icons.

That other one...my vote says female (skinny) to me..

...Oh well, and it's only Monday...

I think you've got GREAT grounds for a suit here! Look, the female population stands at 50% and you've only got 2 out of 11 pictures that are suitable to express who you are. Why that's blatant discrimination! I'm sure you can find some Federal Title umpty ump or other declaring that discrimination on it's face.

Let's see, if you file a Federal class action lawsuit for all, hmmmm, 250,000 female members of the ITRC at, let's say $10,000 dollars apiece, that would be $2,500,000,000 or roughly 350.14 fully equipped superdomes. Hmmm, after lawyer's fees that would leave you with the equivalent of .10 cents apiece or a broken 700 workstation.

Worth it? Well if you are the lawyer. Any of you ladies married to a lawyer or are one yourselves? (Sys admin AND a lawyer? )

Hmmm, alternate methods, well you could get Carly to sign up for ITRC. When she sees that she has the choice of a frumpy sysadmin in slacks or a skinny stick figure with a 3 stooges haircut I suspect you'd see a hundred female selections within 24 hours.

Your points are noted and whilst I can appreciate the possibility of sexism, I for one would still like more choice on the female characters.

I am surprised that more of the female members of the ITRC have not made a comment about the disparity.

Certainly, there are some kind of trademark/copyright infringement, but I want my ITRC character to look like blue-eyed Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls. She got it going on!

(That leaves green-eyed Buttercup and redhead Blossom up for grabs!!)
