You mean the directory name "24x7" ? Not at all. If it's purely unix to unix access it should be fine. /opt is the correct (or rather standard) location for application install.

Team:

We are in the process of installing a script for a 24x7 availability. It creates under /opt a directory called 24x7. would there be any issues with this? Any ideas???

Thanks
Ben.

Hi Ben,

It's fair to make your 24x7 directory under /opt, but if your script is going to be writing log files I'd suggest writing them somewhere under /var, such as /var/24x7.

JP
Hi Ben,

No problem with using the name "24x7". No problem with users accessing it either since /opt is 755.

If "24x7" will be growing, I'd prefer to have it under /var however it's entirely up to your site, standards, and preferences.

Darrell
