Hi,
I have started up my hpux rx260 (first boot) and I don't known my root-default password.
How can I recover it?

Hi Emilio,

HP usually ships with a null PW or with hp as the default root PW.

The default is no password unless you put one in.

Here is the fix.

Boot the box

Interupt at the console 10 second prompt.

bo

Y Interact

hpux -is

then you can run the passwd command with the full path.

Then you can set the password.

Try Admin

That's the default in the GSP....

Did the system come pre-loaded by HP?

If yes, contact them for the password...

Otherwise, boot the box (you will have to do it hard)....as it boots, press any key to interupt.....

Interact with IPL > y

Go to single user mode:
hpux -is

Rest the root password:
passwd

Well IF it's a null PW then just hit return at the PW prompt. No need to reset one. Just login w/o a PW & immediately set your own.

(hpup -is) and (changed root password)
"rebooted" it.
