EMC Symm BCV split with Netbackup

Has anyone out there implemented EMC BCV Symm split with Netbackup? Any howtodoc will help. We already have the bcv script. Current we do the bcv split via cron, then run backup using Netbackup. I will like both to be a one step routine.

Yes, we have.

You don't need to use cron....

We use activate and deactivate scripts called from netbackup.

We are in an SAP environment, so our scripts use brbackup....

All you really need to do is add your bcv split to your activate script.

We configured to use bpstart script to split the BCV before backup and bpend script to sync the BCV after backup. It's performs automatically.

We don't use netbackup but we use dataprotector . Dataprotector has emc symetrix integration as well as timefinder integaration . Once integrated and configured evrything is automatic .

You should look for these integartion in the netbackup too .

Geoff, if you are using EMC BCVs why are you doing offline backups? Also SAP's brbackup command can run the whole BCV backup for you. We currently have brbackup put Oracle into hotmode, split our mirror and then take Oracle out of hot mode...

Eric,

We do offline because the client wants it - we do online during the week, then on Saturdays, an offline.

Some of our environments are SAP and some are not - so we can't use brbackup for them.
