I have an old E45 box for testing and I need to install a 4GB disk beside the boot disk. The system will not boot when I plug the new disk in. The disk is a Seagate ST15150N.
any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Hi Mike

check for the following , in this order only .

1. SCSI ID'd on the Disks , it looks that both the disks have the same id.

2. Terminator , it should be enabled on the physically last drive on the bus.

3. Cables SCSI pins tend to get bent if not put properly.

4. Power Connector to the new Disk , it should look clean and non carbon.

Manoj Srivastava

SCSI disks addresses are set with jumpers on the drive itself. There is no standard location or orientation other than there will be 3 (or 4 for HVFWD) jumpers and a jumper usually means a bit value of 1. Most disk manufacturers provide web info for their jumpers. You can see the bootable disks using the E45's boot ROMs by issuing the seach command.
