One of our hpux-10.20 with oracle 7.3.2.2 has had it ip address changed, since then oracle stops wokring on that box.

when i do
LSNRCTL> start
Starting /apps/oracle/product/7.3.2.2/bin/tnslsnr: please wait...

it just sat there and does nothing, i could not even kill it. kill or kill -9 does not actually kill it.

Even svrmgrl also gets hung.

Any suggestion ?

Thanks,

Hi,

Like Dave, I suspect the tnsnames.ora and/or the listener.ora file(s) had the IP coded within. If so they'll need to be changed to the new IP.

Rgds,
Jeff

Steve

There's an article on metalink:
http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=1061927.6

Basically the advice is to delete the "listener.ckp" file, which seems to be used when you have "USE_CKPFILE_LISTENER = TRUE" in listener.ora

Could this be it?

-- Graham

you have to check three files for this

1.listener.ora
2.tnsnames.ora
3.sqlnet.ora

If you had changed the ip/hostname on the listener.ora ,do check the sqlnet.ora file as whether you have any nameserver defined in it for the order of resolution.

Just like nsswitch.conf file in unix for name resolution oracle has sqlnet.ora

Revert with the listener.log
