      <description>you have converted it to the dos format which will add the carriage return.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Again do a dos2ux hai1.doc &amp;gt; hai2.doc&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;to remove the ^M characters&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>You posted a new item with an answer to this question.&lt;BR /&gt;You send the file with mailx and then using MS-word.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I don't think you need ux2dos when viewing plain unix text files in ms-word.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Just use next command to send your file:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;uuencode hai.doc hai.doc | mailx -s "subject" p.geluk@tpgpost.nl&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Peter</description>

      <description>Those carriage returns (&lt;CTRL&gt;-M) is exactly what ux2dos is for, because an end-of-line under unix only consists of a linefeed, while dos uses a carriage return PLUS a linefeed. So if you don't want the carriage returns, don't use ux2dos.&lt;/CTRL&gt;</description>
