I have servers HP9000 series 712 version 10.20, and another server SUN.
has a possibility of configuring the server H9000 " 712 " so that he is a client in graphic mode of server SUN.
It should be noted that both server are in the same network and that one connects oneself in ASCII mode via the telnet .

Hi,

you can setup the hp712 to be an X terminal:
Insert a new line with a unique init number (ie. 5) into /etc/inittab:
sun:5:respawn:/usr/bin/X11/X -query HOSTNAME

Replace HOSTNAME with the hostname of your sun station.

Then do a init 5 on your hp station.
If you want generally start in X terminal mode change the line:
init:3:initdefault
to
init:5:initdefault

On the HP start X by diong the following command;

X -query

This will start X on your HP box but its actually running on the Sun box so you can access all the sun boxes graphical programs.

OR, run X on your HP as normal but log onto the Sun, export your DISPLAY variable to your HP's IP/dns name and then when you run a graphical program, eg. xclock, it will be on your HP's display but its actually running the xclock prgram on the Sun.
