Is there a way I can get the age of a file in "day of year" format without having to make changes to the way it appears in a ls for everyone else. I can write a lengthy program to do so but I'm hoping to find an easier way.

Probably the easiest way is to use the perl module date::calc, but if you don't want to do any work, you can probably use Clay's infamous tool.

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xa0f335067c18d6118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html

GL,
C
