Hey Jeff,

I support the troops.

I support BOTH wars but respect your position.

What bin Laden tried to take away two years ago was our right to have this discussion without fear.

The fact is we've made a mess in Iraq and are responsible to pay the tab to fix it and get out. There are a lot of bin Laden people pouring in there to take shots at us.

I don't know about WMD or the 9/11 link. I think the 300,000 bodies we've dug up so far were reason enough to get rid of the guy running the place.

So, lets summarize.

Hopeefully,
We ALL support the troops.
We ALL want Iraqi's and Afghani's to be free.
We ALL want this violence to stop.
We ALL want a peaceful, tolerant world.

Freedom isn't free.

I respect those that choose not to fight and those that choose to serve. We need to get the war on terror over. We really can't afford to lose it.

Lets make those who gave their lives on and since 9/11 by doing the best job we can to make the world a better place.

SEP

Let's all please find the time this morning to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of the fallen victims & gallant heroes who perished on this day 2 years ago.
And let's use this period of reflection to help insure that we never forget & that we continue to do whatever it takes to prevent these horrible tragedies from ever happening again, including healing the wounds & mending the mistrust that may have led to these heinous acts.

Remember that we must all live together on this beautiful blue planet & that if we aren't part of the solution, we become part of the problem.

May God bless each & every one of us.

Somberly,
Jeff

Jeff,

Thanks for taking the time to post this. 2 years and 4 hours ago, I was in a rest home about an hour after my Dad died. One of my sisters had commented that it would be easy to remember the date...."9/11". A few hours later, we watched the horror unfold that would absolutely assure us of never forgetting the date.

Many heroes died 2 years ago - let's not forget them or those they left behind.

Rob

Definitely not a date I nor anyone will ever be able to forget. Two years ago I was at work, and only four days away from getting married on 9/15/2001. We continued our wedding plans and lit a candle in memory of those that were senselessly murdered.

We must vow to destroy terrorism, even if it costs more lives in fighting this scurge of the earth. Remember to thank your police officers, firemen, security guards, and especially your military personel. Urge your politicans to get involved in this fight to back the elimination of terrorist groups worldwide.

I wonder what the French would do if Bin Laden had attacked the Eifel Tower/Paris or what the Germans would do if he slammed a plane into Bonn or Munich? Being that I am German and French (plus Irish, English, Swiss and Dutch - OK, yes I am an European mutt), I am sadden in their yellow striped spine attitude - of course the word COWARD comes to mind. The world needs to wake up and start some major ass kicking, and when we have the terrorists down, kick them in the head just for effect!

A friend of mine just returned from a month in Baghdad visiting his parents and family, something he has been unable to do for over ten years. Before he came home to the US, he got the opportunity to swim in one of Sadam's palace pools while waiting for his visa to be cleared. He says things aren't perfect, but they are now free with the exception that the terrorists there need to be eradicated.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto famously fretted, "I fear that we have awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve."

YA THINK????

Beware of the Sleeping Giant: http://www.newsmax.com/commentarchive.shtml?a=2001/12/7/115906

LIVE FREE or DIE
harry d brown jr
I'm with Bill. I support the actions taken to protect us and I pray they can stop soon.

Today I'm weary. I can look at pictures of a cafe a block from where I took my kids two years ago on Emek Rafaim. When are we going to stop killing each other and get on with building a better life.

Do you look upon firefighters and police in your town with renewed respect? Do you still recognize that they'd charge into a burning buildinig to save you?

I wonder about myself. Would I have done anything that day? Would I have volunteered my rusty piloting skills to save flight 93.

The acts of bravery shall remain with me the rest of my life. The day I saw death. They day I learned to properly appreciate my life.

Remember.

Steve

Happy Birthday Geoff!

Yes it's a shame that people or things have to go & spoil perfectly good dates like - Sep 11, Dec 7 or even my birthday Apr 14 - the day that 1) Titanic hits an iceberg & 2) Abraham Lincoln is shot. Which is very ironic for me as I'm a native of Springfield Ill. But I'm understandably proud that he, arguably the greatest American ever, was a homeboy.

Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff,
April 14 is truly infamous. Lincoln's last day, Titanic's last day, and me staying up late to make the last day of Income Tax filing season.

As we ponder world affairs and conflicts, I'm cheered by the fact that we on this board, an international gathering of people with just a single common interest, constitute a loosly knit society.
Every morning at 9:00, as Chief of Systems Engineering here, I conduct what we call our "MOM/POP" meeting (Morning Operations Meeting/Preview of Priorities), with my staff standing in the area in front of my service dispatcher's desk and me working the agenda using her counter as a sort of podium.

Two years ago this morning, I started what I expected to be a routine meeting, but a couple of minutes in, the dispatcher, watching her screen, said "An airplane just hit the World Trade Center!". I recall saying something to the effect of "How could that happen?", and trying to go on with the agenda. A few more minutes went before she said "Another airplane just hit the WTC". At that point we knew there was no accident, but I stubbornly trudged through the agenda and dispatched the troops.

This morning, I walked in, sat down (I never do this) and told the staff that I was abandoning the usual format today. I asked them just to have a free form discussion of what was on their minds. About half of it was the sort of stuff we usually discuss, the other half about what happened two years ago and the people who died.

I'm very proud of our folks, and of all of you too.
