      <description>compress is the traditional unix way.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;See man compress&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But these days I think gzip is regarded as superior.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-- Graham</description>

      <description>compress will always be available but isn't too good&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;gzip is pretty good&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;zip is fairly good and works with Windows including password things.&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;bzip2 is far better compression that the ones above but takes a bit longer to compress.&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;All above are available for hp-ux</description>

      <description>bzip is there which is a better compression tool than gzip.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can get bzip2 for hpux here&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Misc/bzip2-1.0.2/" target="_blank"&gt;http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Misc/bzip2-1.0.2/&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HTH,&lt;BR /&gt;Umapathy</description>
