fbackup(3006) error

Hello,

This is the first time I received these errors when a backup was going on and I'm searching the kbase but can't seem to find info on what these means. So I'm hoping someone might shed some light?

fbackup(3006): writer lost synchronization, fno=... filenum=....

This error happened on Friday but Saturday night and Sunday night backups did not show this error. So, I'm curious if this is just a bad tape? Or if there is something more??

Any help, adivce, suggestions...I'd greatly appreciate.

Hello-

I ran into this error, running fbackup on a system that runs Oracle. What I had to do to resolve this is to shutdown Oracle and the associated apps. Once I did this, all was ok.

It would seem that since Friday would be a day where work would occur and Sat/Sun (the weekend), would be a time when this would not occur..

I'd say, get permission from your application manager to shutdown the app before the backup occurs, and then to start it up once fbackup has finished.
