As far as I know, the L, and N series NEVER ran on HP-UX 10.20. Those are all 64-bit machines and 10.20 is a 32-bit operating system.

I believe that the V series and the release of HP-UX 11.0 were almost simultaneous. HP-UX 11.0 has been out for quite a while now.

Product Info for rp5400 series
http://www.hp.com/products1/servers/rackoptimized/rp5400series/specifications/index.html

We need to upgrade our Server from K Class to rp5450 (L Class). The limitation is that we need to run HP-UX 10.20. In the HP site I couldn't find any compatibility matrix containing HP-UX 10.20.

I will appreciate if anybody can provide any link regarding this.

Sandip

Sorry, the L class do NOT run HP-UX 10.20. They are an 11.0 64-bit machine only.

If you notice in the server support matrix, it lists the L series as 64-bit only for 11.0 and 11i.

Why not go ahead and upgrade to 11? 10.20 is going out of support very soon anyway.

You are out of luck. Your L-box requires 11.x. However, you should be able to run almost any 10.20 application in 11x (either 32-bit or 64-bit) versions.

Hi Sandip,

L, N and V class servers only support 64 bit OS. You have to load 11.X (64bit) on these !

HTH,
Shiju

Actually we run some applications which are not supported on HP-UX 11. So our management also are not ready to take the risk. And the Product is running for last 5 years. We are having a plan to run this SW for another 2 years. I think I have to purchase the CPU for our K460 box from the open market because HP is charging $25000 for each CPU.

Really out of luck.

Sandip

sandip

your rp5400 will only run 11.00 or higher (no 10.20).

As for the CPU price, check with a reseller in your area about a used one. It's not really cost efficient to buy a new cpu for that box for the relatively short time you will probably be on it.

Good luck

FG.

OK - I'm thoroughly confused now & I have to respectfully disagree

At my last assignment we had dozens of Ls (1000/2000/3000), 4 V-2500s & a 4 Ns - ALL running 10.20 - some running MC/SG to boot.

And wasn't the V-class out before 11.x was even released?

Can an HP eng clarify this please?

Rgds,
Jeff

Regarding Jeffs' response, I have to put him right here and say thatNONE of the systems he listes can run anything less than 11.x of HP-UX.
They cannot run 10.20, there has never been a 64 bit release of 10.20, and these systems are 64bit OS ONLY!
