    <description>&lt;BR /&gt;Hello &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Normally swap (/dev/vg00/lvol2) act as dump device unless you configure separate device for dump the content of memory when system crashes.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In the next startup after system crash system save the dump in /var/adm/crash as files named crash.0 crash.1 etc.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Rgds&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Manoj     &lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Dump device is configured to take a snap-shot of memory information when the system goes wrong - which is used to trouble shooting-. Primary swap will act as the dump device in default. you may have to configure dump device separately if the primary swap is less than the amount of RAM installed in the system, otherwise only a partial memory information alone will be stored. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Gnana A.</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The other guys have given you a good&lt;BR /&gt;explanation. The dump area is configured&lt;BR /&gt;in the /etc/rc.config.d/savecrash or&lt;BR /&gt;crashconf depending on your level of &lt;BR /&gt;operating system. For a properly &lt;BR /&gt;configured crash dump you need at least&lt;BR /&gt;a minmium of 50% of your actual system&lt;BR /&gt;memory that is being used. Usually I &lt;BR /&gt;set up /var for at 2Gb to do this function.&lt;BR /&gt;As i mentioned above this depends on the&lt;BR /&gt;amount of memory being utilised.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-Michael</description>
