I've been through it a number of times. Even with no specific complaint, I can give general advice:

1) Follow the manual to intense detail.
2) make sure all OS patches are installed and configured correctly before you start.
3) make sure all required kernel changes are done and the configuration is generous based on your expected load.
4) make sure the box is tuned well..

Pay special attention to shmmax and shmseg
5) make sure filesystem space at the install point is generous.
6)If there is an error during install, don't ignore it. Resolve it. If oracle support says to ignore it for sure don't ignore it. escalate and force them to resolve the issue.
