Hello All,

I have a porblem with rlogin.
I want to setup rlogin from one server to another server.
I want the rlogin not to ask for password and directly login to the server, but not how root, but how diferent user.
All the configurations is OK. But it is only work with ip address into "$HOME/.rhosts" and not hostname.
Do you know waht the problem ??
Thanks for all.

The problem will probably be the host name resolution on the remote server.

If you have it as

1.1.1.1 servera

in /etc/hosts

then .rhosts needs to contain

servera

if it's

1.1.1.1 servera.here.there.anywhere

then .rhosts should contain

servera.here.there.anywhere

Ideally, the permissions on the the file should be -rw-------, owned by the user in question.

have you checked whether nslookup hostname gives you back the correct ip address? and also whether nslookup ip address gives you the correct hostname?
Sounds like you do not have this set up correctly.
check /etc/hosts on each node, and also see if you are using dns or nis.
after you telnet to the remote server, do a who -a

see what machine name you are logged-in from and put that name in the .rhosts file
