topic samba server installation in Operating System - HP-UX

samba server installation

Hi
I want install samba server on hpux 11(c-class).
i download samba software from samba site and i did following things.
1.gunzip file
2.tar -xvf file
now i can't able to create depot file for installing samba software.kindly guide me.

Hi,

As far as I know SAMBA doesn't come as a SW depot package. Just unzip, untar and start using it. Following links might be useful for you,

I would suggest downloading directly from HP in depot format.

Samba Server:

If you are looking for HP version of SAMBA (CIFS) you can download the same from,

You can install this using swinstall as it is a depot package.

Why use HP depots instead of tar files with source code?

Because HP took the time to test things out and change the source code to prior to releaseing the depots.

I have heard of no problems with these depots. I use them on five servers. 2 11, 3 11.11
