What are the "vx_inactive_thread" processes all about?
(these processes can be clearly seen while using TOP)

vx_inactive_thread is indicative of vxfs filesystems. You might have a needed driver not correctly configured, or a missing patch.

# grep vx /stand/vmunix

These processes are of onLine JFS/VxFS.

make sure the system is patched properly.

Sorry, i could have searched the archives as well. The metalink thread URL that was posted has the most information.
I forgot to tell you that I was looking on 10.20 system. Some suggested installing a patch as well. Any idea which patch could solve this and where I can download this?

Appreciate any input, thx anyway for the responses given so far.

PHKL_16751
(once again used the search engine, same keyword, patches 10.20 ;-).

You can download it from the "IT resource center" -> Individual Patches.

I agree with Tom about the patch,
but you should check migrattion to 11.00
or 11i because hp finish suport 10.20.

In 10.20 HP-UX vx_inactive_thread is normal.
